an exploration of the possibilities of the contact microphone, a device based around a piezoelectric disk that acts as a transducer, transforming sound vibrations into voltage that can be used as an audio signal.

certain materials exhibit this uncanny property of piezoelectricity, a knack of accumulating electrical charge in response to mechanical stress, including certain crystals, bone, and many other natural and synthetic materials.

a widely used device in both traditional and experimental musics, this is the first if not one of the very few collections of work centered specifically around the device itself.
